Public support for renewables is more important now than it ever has been!

One thing that has played on my mind ever since I started to be interested in renewable energy and energy itself, is the dire state of this country's energy in terms of policy, inefficiency and the way it is being invested in. I am finding it harder and harder to believe that election after election no one talks about energy policy! I mean have you heard a single musing on it from a politician in the run up to this election?
We are about to spend a fortune building a nuclear power station, that will be owned by the Chinese, that we have been dictated to on the price we will pay in 2025 for the pleasure. This is a completely ridiculous notion in this day and age especially as clean green renewable energy is bringing the price of energy down. Then there is the fracking which has been driven through by Theresa May, she did this even though it had been rejected at the local level and was unbelievably unpopular. This combined with the fact that it is yet unknown what the price of fracked gas is going to be in this country, I can tell you it will not be cheap enough with the environmental damage that will be caused by it.
So as you can see things look pretty bleak when it comes to our Energy Policy and this needs to change. It seems that the opinion of the general population can’t sway the government from being attracted financially by the big Hydrocarbon old guard.
I for one believe that we can make this a topic that the electoral candidates should be talking about! There is more to politics than appealing to people's pockets lets make the country better. Why don’t we champion renewable energy and get back to the top of the rankings where we should be with the research institutes we have in this country! Investing in renewables will lower the cost of heating and electricity nationwide, it will create jobs, it will improve the air quality and therefore quality of life will go up. I mean really those who cannot see the benefit in this are not fit for office.
So write to your MP tell them energy policy and the environment are very important issues for you, get your friends to do the same! Let us stand up and be counted at this election! Let the election be about more than just money! Lets actually try and improve the country rather than quibble over a load of lies spewed over and over again by a bunch of out of touch aging politicians. After all they are meant to represent us and our best interests which this most certainly is.
